DISCRIMINATION: Wells Fargo to pay $175 million over lending practices against Latinos and African Americans.

Reminder that Wells Fargo employees bragged about how they gave “ghetto loans” to “mud people.”

justice.

Hey folks, aren’t people always saying shit like “There’s no racism now, the president is black” and other such bullshit?
This is a shining example of institutionalized racism, right here.

Welp.
May be time to find us a new bank. Maybe a local credit union? But I’m sure all money-lending institutions are problematic too. ._.

putting this back up here.

…Of course it’s simply not possible that the alleged bad credit would be the result of predatory lending practices, incl. high interest rates. Of course not.

For the folks of color that wonder why some of us get upset about being called racial slurs: Racial slurs don’t come alone. Whether they are accompanied by the threat of physical violence or some other form of action, the slur does not exist in a vocabulary bubble. They have real life consequences.
If you think I’m less than fully human and less deserving of respect, you will treat me as accordingly. Politicians aren’t the only people in positions of power. The people working in our banks, our schools, our police stations, our doctors’ offices - they are all in the position to impact the quality of our lives. So if that person is racist or if that organization is operating with racist practices, it’s not a leap to say that you will be getting treated poorly - you will be treated as less - less than white.
Laugh it off if you’d like the next time someone hurls a hateful word at you but know that a word is not just a word.

But guise guise we live in a post racial society?!!
Welp.
